Vietnam hospitals conferred ISO 9001:2000 status

The Eye Hospital and the intensive care unit of the Nguyan Tri Phoung Hospital in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, have both received ISO 9001:2000 quality management certificates from DNV.

Jahn Henry Lovaas, director of operations for DNV Certification Asia Pacific, presented the certificate to Dr. Pahn Quy Nam, at a recent certification award ceremony for the Nguyan Tri Phoung hospital.

In his speech Løvaas said: “The health sector operates in a highly regulated environment with stringent demands on quality. Nguyan Tri Phoung’s commitment to meet the ISO 9001:2000 standard testifies its ability to meet this challenge.”

DNV’s biorisk expert, Paul Huntly, who presented the ISO 9001:2000 certificate to the Eye Hospital at a separate ceremony, said the hospital’s achievement in quality management issues have been recognized by DNV. “The certification award reflects the commitment of the hospital’s management to achieve the highest safety and quality standards for the benefit of their patients.”

“Both hospitals have successfully completed all the steps necessary to comply with the ISO 9001:2000 standard,” said Ms Tung. DNV Certification’s manager in Vietnam. “The standard was most suitable for them as it requires deployment of well-defined approaches and quantifiable measurements to evaluate performance.”
